OK - with Social Media there is nothing you don't know about the Royal Wedding.....
Is this going to be a big moment for social media?
Not only will you be able to follow the wedding on TV and radio - the hash tags will go bonkers. People from the pavement, their sofas, the park while they watch on an iPad, and their offices around the world will be able to tell us all what they think. Photographs will be posted live by those that stayed out all night to get pride of place. They will be pointing their cameras at the resplendant (not often you get to use that word) soldiers, the carriage, the Queen, the guests and the celebs hoping to catch a wave and then tweet it, post it, text it or mail it to friends and family, and further beyond.
We'll get the verdict on the dress, the ceremony, the flowers, the rings, the music, the guests and everything else. It will be like we are there, chatting with other guests, warm and friendly with the occasional bit of bitchiness emanating from Auntie Jane, who can't help herself.
In 1953 television became mainstream with the live braodcast of the Coronation. In 2011 we may be seeing the emergence of Twitter from the edges of the media to mainstream. Social media is all about dialogue and engagement, and those that join in will be playing a part that would have been unimaginable. A small part, but in a huge conversation...
It could be the Mainstream Moment...
